| A Select
Distinguished
Club |
Mississauga Valley was recognized as
a Select Distinguished Club for achieving
7 out of 10 of the Distinguished Club Program points in the 2002-03
TM year. As a result Toastmasters International will be sending
us a special ribbon for our banner. Kudos to last year's
President WHITNEY RODRICKS and her Executive for this
achievement.
The
Distinguished Club Program is Toastmasters International's system
for measuring the performance of Clubs in the areas of education,
membership and administration. There are a maximum of 10 points
available, and there are 3 levels of awards given: Distinguished (5
or 6 points), Select Distinguished (7 or 8 points), and Presidents
Distinguished (9 or 10 points).
We
should be proud of our Club for exceeding Toastmasters' minimum
standards of excellence, and strive to continue on this path for the
coming year!
Fellow Toastmasters, we are starting a
new year with a new executive. We are busy formulating plans for the
year, and need all of you to tell us what you want to achieve.
Our motto for the year is "Believe and
Achieve"! If you set goals and believe in yourselves,
you will succeed. Both Evelin and I will be talking to you to
learn what your goals are and what we can do to help you! I am
looking forward to a great year at MVTM; we are a good team and will
all help each other! My favorite expression is, 'there is no "I" in
Team'.

Mississauga Valley TM club has been
recognized by Toastmasters International for our newsletter "Voice
of the Valley", which has been named one of the Top Ten Club
Newsletters in the World for the 2002-03 year. Congratulations to
last year's VPPR and Editor ROSEMARY BRKOPAC for this
high honour!
CAROL CROUSE is planning for a
Speechcraft session at the Peel Distress Centre, starting in
October. She will need help from Club members in putting on
this 8-week workshop, which will give the basics of Toastmasters
and speaking to a small group of people. Interestingly, Carol
found out about Toastmasters and joined our club as a result of a
Speechcraft she attended a few years ago!
NADIA ZUBRYTSKA hasn't been seen at the
Club for the past few months. She has a good reason though, as she
just recently gave birth to a new baby girl! Nadia hopes to start
coming out to Toastmasters again in a few months when things settle
down.
ERIC MATTO recently attended both the Region VI
Toastmasters conference in Toronto and the Region V
conference near Chicago, Illinois. While Eric was in the
Chicago area (where he lived for 4 years and served as District
30 Governor in 2001-02), he also visited his former club Schaumburg
Area Toastmasters for its 25th anniversary party.
YICHAO CHEN is leaving the Club
and the country in August to go back to school in Houston,
Texas. We will miss her, but wish her all the best. Come back
and visit us whenever you are in Mississauga, Yichao!
