Our Christmas Party will be held on our regular
meeting night of December 16, 2003, and will be at CAROL
CROUSE's house which is in the Britannia / Erin Mills
area. We will have a pot luck meal, and will be getting this
organized at our December 2 meeting. Plans are underway to
play some "Joe" games, and Santa will be there with interesting
parcels to open. Mark that date on your calendar so you
don't miss this fun meeting. The party will be our last
meeting of 2003.
As part of the
requirements for his CL, ERIC MATTO presented to the club on
November 11 a one-hour workshop from Toastmasters
International's Better Club Series entitled "Moments of Truth". This
purpose of this workshop is to examine various aspects of the club
experience from the points of view of guests attending a meeting and
deciding whether or not to join the club, as well as existing
members deciding whether or not to renew their membership dues.
During this workshop, the audience was divided up into smaller
groups to examine different areas.
Overall the Mississauga Valley
club rated very highly in this self-examination. A few opportunities
for improvement were identified for the Club Executive to address.
This exercise should make Mississauga Valley an even better club in
the future.

October 28 was the night of our Halloween theme
meeting. Chair LINDA KANE brought a whole lot of costumes and
decorations to put is into the mood as can be seen in the photos taken at the meeting. Left:
EVELIN DEMELLO, MEG MOCHIZUKI and TAM DANG. Right: Group shot
showing all the members in our Halloween finest. If Toastmasters
International founder RALPH SMEDLEY said that we learn best in
moments of enjoyment, then we learned a lot that night. Thanks,
Linda!!!
Welcome to new member ALEX VON DONAT
who joined in October. Alex is our third new member of the
Toastmasters year. We look forward to hearing your speeches and
helping you in your development as a communicator and
leader!
CAROL CROUSE reports that the
Speechcraft session which she led at the Distress Centre of
Peel is completed, and there were 8 students
participating. Special thanks to ERIC MATTO, MEG MOCHIZUKI,
EVELIN DEMELLO, TAM DANG and JOE VANDERKOOI for ably representing
Toastmasters and encouraging and helping the participants. Of
course, the Club will also earn money from this as
well. Two of the Speechcrafters will be speaking
at the Nov. 25 club meeting, and several more will attend
because they want to see what Toastmasters is all
about.
Mississauga Valley Toastmasters
congratulates PHIL MATHEW and WHITNEY RODRICKS on their recent
wedding. Phil and Whitney first met at our club, and served together
on the Club Executive last year. We wish them all the best as they
begin a new life together.
ERIC MATTO has completed the requirements for the Competent
Leader designation. Congratulations on another
milestone!
